RESOLUTION

Recognizing that GPISD aspires to be a

Community of Readers

Whereas, reading for pleasure with no restrictions, limitations, or requirements establishes a rewarding habit that lasts a lifetime, and

Whereas, the regular practice of reading leads to strong reading skills that are crucial for a lifetime of enjoyment and accomplishment, and

Whereas, all members of the community serve as role models when they read for pleasure and enjoyment, and

Whereas, fostering the love of reading is a gift of incalculable worth and is as important as teaching the skill of reading, and 

Whereas, avid readers are better thinkers and problem solvers in our global society and are a sound investment in the future of tomorrow’s leaders.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Grand Prairie Independent School District Board of Trustees proclaims, affirms, and supports the Read Across the Prairie initiative to encourage our learning community to read for the fun of it.
