   The Parent Involvement Program services all 22 Title I Elementary Schools and three Title I MiddleSchools in the Grand Prairie ISD.  The program is housed at the Parent Involvement Center (PIC) at Travis Elementary and is staffed by a Parent Involvement Facilitator and three Community Liaisons.

The role of the Parent Involvement Facilitator includes the following:

• Provide leadership and assistance in a comprehensive parent program desgined to improve and maintain an accurate flow of information for parent involvement activities
• Coordinate Title I Parent & Community Conference
• Provide assistance to parents in the education of Title I students
• Research innovation and successful parent involvement programs and if needed implement such programs
• Make personal home visits as an educaitonal support for "high risk" Title I students
• Works cooperatively with Title I teachers, counselors, and social workers
• Provide professional development activities to Title I staff when requested
• Participate as a member of various campus committees, such as CIC (Campus Improvement Committee), grant writing committees, advisory boards, etc.

The role of the Community Liaisons includes:

• Facilitate Ingles Sin Barreras Classes
• Translate at PTA Meetings
• Translate for Parent/Teacher Conferences
• Liaison between families and campus
• Assist with monthly parent workshops at PIC
• Assist with Title I Parent & Community Conference

   The role of the center is to provide technical assistance to schools that are looking to implement innovative ideas on increasing parent involvement.  One of the program's main goals is to strengthen the relationship between school staff, parents, students and the local community.

   Some of the activities the program either facilitates or coordinates are parenting classes, pre-GED help, Adult ESL classes, English Literacy Civics classes, computer classes, Family Nights, PTA presentations, and staff development.

   The GPISD offers parents, administrators and the community English to Spanish and vice versa translator and interpreter services for all district related events.  The Translators primary job funciton is to translate all documents of district nature that will be distributed to parents of GPISD students.  Also, English to Spanish interpreting services are available for any and all GPISD sponsored events such as workshops, parenting sessions, parent-teacher conferences, school conferences, and any other event.  In addition to the services being provided, the district is expanding to provide Vietnamese and Arabic translator services.
