Students continue their study of maps. In this lesson, students practice locating places using the four cardinal directions. They come to understand that a map is usually a flat, 2-dimensional representation of a 3-dimensional place on earth. They also continue to practice using geographic tools such as a legend, a compass rose, and the four cardinal directions. The culminating activity is to create a map of the playground and explain their learning using geographic terms. |
