Curriculum activity:   Use color tiles to build rectangles for fractional parts. Record on Fractional parts sheet.
Technology idea 1:   Fractional Parts Template
    Students use this Excel template to build rectangles using the paint bucket. This is an electronic version worksheet Pg. 16 that goes with this activity.
     
Technology idea 2:   Equivalent Fractions
    Students use this template to shade in the parts of each portion of a rectangle to create equivalent fractions.
     
Technology idea 3:   Fraction Action
    Students use this Powerpoint to create fractions with white and shaded tiles. They build a fraction in more than one way to show equivalence.
     
Technology idea 4:   Create Equivalent Fractions
    Students use these directions to create fractions in Microsoft Word using the rectangle and line tool that are equivalent to one half.

    Directions for using Brochure Maker
    Online tool to create tri-fold brochures. . Note- students have to finish this in one session because it only allows you to save an html version that cannot be edited. Suggestion: Create the outside of your brochure on one day and save and print. On another day create the inside of your brochure and print it on the back of the outside brochure you already printed.

Curriculum activity:   Students compare and contrast their field infomation from observations of the plywood experiment.

    Students use this template in Inspiration to record their observations.

Lesson # 1   American Legends
Curriculum activity:   Make a mini book by illustrating heroic deeds in the lives of Daniel Boone or Davy Crockett.
Technology idea 1:   Mini Book
    Students use activBook e135 to create a mini book using a Microsoft Word template.
     
Technology idea 2:   Stapleless Book by Read/Write/Think
    Planing sheet for book
    Students use this online template to create their mini books. Make sure students complete the planning sheet because they must finish their book in one session since they cannot save it.
     
Curriculum activity:   Write a poem about a favorite heroic deed attributed to Davy Crockett or Daniel Boone.
     
Technology idea 1   Biopoem template
    Students use this template as a guide to writing their biopoem. After they write each line, they can erase the direction for that line.
