Unit 03   Beginning to Know How We Are Alike
Lesson 1   Beginning to Know Alliteration
Curriculum activity:   Can You Rhyme - Taken from 3rd Six Weeks ELA Enhancements - Rhyming Words
Technology idea:   Students can use a ready-made Microsoft Word Template - Rhyming Words - 2 to practice phonological awareness.  Students will

look at the picture on the left.  Then look at the group of pictures on the right.  Match the rhyming pictures.  Click and drag to move the pictures to the correct position. Rhyming Words - 2 Template

Curriculum activity:   Initial and Final Sound - Taken from 3rd Six Weeks ELA Enhancements
Technology idea:   Students can use the ready-made Kidspiration template - Initial Sounds - 1 to group pictures. Students can click and drag to move the pictures to the correct inital sound bubble.  Contact your technology facilitator for more information.

Unit 08   Geometry - Determining Sorting Rules
Lesson 1   Determining Sorting Rules
Curriculum activity:   Students will have the opportunity to compare numbers less than ten using real object graphs.
Technology idea:   Group Things
    In edClass activBook e342, students sort objects by dragging them into sets. You may want to guide students through the Sets 1 and Sets 2 worksheets then have them complete the remaining worksheets independently.

Unit 6   Exploring How Things Work
Lesson 1   Living On Our Earth
Curriculum activity:   Students explore their personal needs as well as the needs of their pets and discover how the earth provides for those needs. They create an imaginary animal and its environment, making sure to add sources for food, water, and shelter.
Technology idea:   My Animal Environment
    Students will use Kid Pix to draw a picture of an imaginary animal.  They will use the drawing tools and stamps to create the environment for their animal that includes sources of food, water and shelter.
     
Social Studies
     
Unit 6   How Communities Work:  Job and Work
Lesson 1   What Do We Need
Curriculum activity:   In this first lesson of the economic unit, students identify basic needs and categorize pictures of various objects representing clothing, food and shelter.
Technology idea:   What Do We Need:  Food, Clothing and Shelter
   

Students will use Microsoft Word to categorize “What We Need” by inserting clip art (pictures) into the correct text box:  food, clothing, or shelter.  Students may also type words inside the text boxes.  Click here for the Template.

     
Unit 6   How Communites Work:  Job and Work
Lesson 2   What Do People Do?
Curriculum activity:   In this lesson, students continue to explore wants and needs, this time focusing on how the community helps to provide for those needs through jobs that provide goods and services.
Technology idea:   Goods and Services
    In edClass activBook e587, students use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the different jobs that people do in a community.
