Kindergarten - 4th Six Weeks

Below are ideas for technology integration that support the 4th six weeks in Kindergarten. Contact your Technology Facilitator for assistance.

Unit 04   Beginning to Know How We Are Different
Lesson 01   Exploring Our Language
Curriculum activity:   Read aloud the story, Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman.  Turn the students attention to the types of sentences that were in the story.  As you trun the pages of the book and slowly reread sentences, ask students to identify which punctuation is being used.
Technology idea:   Are You My Mother - Punctuation Marks.
    Students will use Microsoft Word to practice placing punctuation marks at the end of sentences. Teacher will read the 10 sentences.  Students will decide which punctuation mark goes at the end of the sentence.  Type the correction punctuation mark.  Are You My Mother - Punctuation Marks Template.
     
Unit 04   Beginning to Know How We Are Different
Lesson 02    
Curriculum activity:   Explain illustration in sequential order to retell a story and tell how the illustration helps to understand the text. 
Technology idea:   Beginning, Middle and End of My Favorite Story
    Students will use Microsoft paint to illustrate and write about the beginning, middle and end of his/her favorite story.  They will use a template create in Microsoft Paint.  Contact your instructional technology facilitator about assessing this template for student use.  Remember, students will have to open Microsoft Paint>>Go to File>>Choose Open and navigate to the template.
     
Unit 04   Beginning to Know How We Are Different
Lesson 03   Understanding Stories
Curriculum activity:   Through the use of selected reading, students will reflect understanding of stories in a variety  of ways.
Technology idea:   Elements of Story Structure - Kidspiration Template
    Students will use Kidspiration to demonstrate an understanding of a story.  Open the Elementss of Story Struction Kidspiration Template.   Student will think about their favorite story and drag pictures from the symbol palette to illustrate each story element. Students can use the text tool to write about the story elements.  (Contact your technology facilitator for information about assessing this template for student use.)

Unit 01   Counting Through 15
Lesson 01   Counting and Comparing Numbers Through 15
Curriculum activity:   Students will have the opportunity to model simple problems (sum) with concrete objects to express a mathematical equation.
Technology idea:   Add Peas and Carrots
    In edClass activBook e328, students sort objects by dragging them into like sets then adding them.  You may need to model how to write a number story problem.

Unit 08   Revisiting Earth Patterns, Cycles and Changes
Lesson 01   Observing Changes
Curriculum activity:   Students explore the seasonal changes around the school by comparing the pictures taken and recorded from the beginning of the year to new observations for the same area. They discover the pattern of seasons from year to year and relate that to their own life.
Technology idea:   How Trees Change
    Students will use Kid Pix to illustrate how trees change from season to season.  Students will begin by dividing the Kid Pix screen into four sections.  Next, students will illustrate how trees would look during each season.
