    About Ochoa STEM Academy

Milam Elementary opened in 1955 under the direction of Principal Bruce Younger. It has undergone many changes since that day, including a major renovation in 1991 during which new classrooms, a library resource center, and a music room were added. The first staff included Anna Elrod - 1st Grade, Iona Tyler - 2nd Grade, Marguerite Allen - 3rd Grade, Dorothy Bennett - 4th Grade, Pauline Little - 5th Grade, and Jack VanBevers - 6th Grade.  Milam continues its growth and change in 2012 when construction began in the summer of 2012 on a brand new facility completed for the 2013 school year.
