Degrees and Certifications:
I graduated with my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Early Elementary Education in 2004 from the University of Texas at Arlington. In 2009, I earned my Masters degree in Administration from Lamar University. I am certified in Administration, ESL, GT, and Technology Applications for all grades. I taught 3rd grade GT/ESL in Irving for four years before coming to Garner in 2008. Here, I have taught 3rd grade for three years, and 4th grade for one.
In 2012, I developed the Video Production program at GFAA. Since then, we have won 1st place in the Celebrate Texas Public Schools video competition (2016), 8th place in the National Scotties Trees Rock video competition (2015), 2nd and 3rd places in the Rainforest Partnership's Films for the Forest, presented at Austin's notorious South by Southwest film festival (2014 and 2015, respectively), and semi-finalists in the 2016 Paradigm Challenge, where less than 5% of entrants were selected as semi-finalists. I am super proud of the students I get to teach and how far this program has come from our humble beginnings.
Arts Integration is another part of my job here at GFAA. I help teachers find ways to integrate the fine arts into their curriculum whenever possible, and have taken 3 teams to Washington D.C., for the Kennedy Center's Arts Integration Conference.
You might also recognize my voice from the weekly call outs! I am completely in love with GFAA and proud to be an educator here. We are a school full of creativity and surprises. I can't wait to show you what that looks like through student video and the Arts!
