Tanya Gilliam, Principal

Dear Austin Elementary Family-

Ms. Gilliam We want your child to be happy and successful at Austin Elementary and believe that you play a key role. That role is to continually show interest in and support for your child. The child who knows that his or her family is interested in and supports the school program will almost always have fewer problems in school and will enjoy greater success.

We believe in fair and consistent discipline that encourages students to be responsible for themselves. At school, we try to create a safe environment where courtesy and kindness prevail and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures.

Please share with your child’s teacher any information regarding his or her special needs that will help us better serve your family. We believe that communication among parents, students and teachers is critical in assuring student success.

Assistant Principal rideaux

Hello, I am Geneva Mobley Rideaux, the Assistant Principal for the Awesome Austin Longhorns! I have worked for GPISD since 1994 where I began as a reading teacher at Truman Middle School. All of my education experience has been in GPISD and I have served in several positions in the district. I love education and encouraging students and teachers.

At Austin, we have a strong discipline plan using Capturing Kids Hearts and Longhorn Zone. We believe in getting to know our students and encouraging self-respect and well as respecting each other. We believe that a good wholesome discipline plan involves all staff members and students working together! We are all enjoying and showing our Longhorn Pride!!!!!
