The GPISD Experience is the most exciting school district showcase event in North Texas and your opportunity to learn about GPISD's Kaleidoscope Schools and Programs of Choice. Prospective families from all over the Metroplex are invited to explore and discover the perfect educational setting for their child.
Teachers and administrators from every GPISD campus will be available on-site to provide first-hand knowledge about the unique offerings of each school. At the GPISD Experience, you can also speak to students and parents about how choice has allowed them to take an active role in their education and plans for the future.

May we apply if we live in another school district?
Yes. Grand Prairie ISD is an “open enrollment” district therefore you do not have to live in Grand Prairie ISD to choose GPISD for your child.
How do we apply for a school of choice, program of choice or transfer request?
You may apply beginning Monday, November 14, following the GPISD Experience. Please refer to the Application Timeline for specific information.
How do I submit my child's application?
Grand Prairie ISD’s application process is 100% online. You will need access to the Internet to apply. Please refer to the Application Timeline for more info.
How can I complete the online application if I do not have internet access?
Computer labs are available for parents to submit their child's application at the GPISD Education Center. Please refer to the Application Timeline for specific lab dates and hours.
What documentation is required to apply?
Students not currently enrolled in Grand Prairie ISD: To determine academic eligibility, all documents listed below are required for students not currently enrolled in Grand Prairie ISD. In the online application you will have the opportunity to upload the required documents prior to submitting the application. You may also deliver the required documents in person to the GPISD Education Center. All documentation must be submitted before the end of the application period to be considered academically eligible.
- Academic Transcript/Academic History
- State Assessment Records
- Attendance Records (Current Year)
- Discipline Records (Current Year)
Students currently enrolled in GPISD schools only need their student ID number to apply. The student’s ID number can be found by logging into Skyward's Family Access (Parent Portal) then selecting the student information link. Your child's Student ID is the "Other ID" number in the General Information area. No documentation is required to apply.
What are GPISD’s Academic Eligibility Requirements?
- Passing with an average of 80 or higher in all core classes (ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science)
- 90% attendance rate for the current year
- Passed all areas of the state assessments (STAAR or EOC) in the last administration
- Acceptable discipline record for the current year
What if I do not have a way to upload the required documents to the online application?
For assistance with uploading the required documentation to the online application, please visit the computer lab at the GPISD Education Center during designated times. Please refer to the Application Timeline for specific dates and times.

If my child is currently enrolled in a GPISD School or Program of Choice and wishes to continue for the following school year, do I need to re-apply?
Students currently attending a GPISD School of Choice or Program of Choice who wish to stay and continue at that school or program do not need to re-apply for any level other than Pre-K going into Kindergarten. Pre-K students must apply to attend Kindergarten at the same school if the school is not zoned for their residence.
If my child is currently attending a traditional school on a transfer request and wishes to stay for the following year, do I need to re-apply online?
Students currently attending a traditional campus on a transfer request who wish to stay and continue at that campus do not need to apply online. Please note that if your child is attending Pre-K in a school that is not zoned for your residence and you wish for your child to remain at that school, your child must apply for a transfer to begin Kindergarten at that school.
Do I need to apply if I want my child to attend the school in my GPISD attendance zone?
No. Students can attend the schools within their primary residence attendance zone in Grand Prairie ISD.
Can I apply online at this time for my child to attend Kindergarten in GPISD?
Yes, but final approval and admission status will not be determined until after GPISD’s Kindergarten Enrollment which will take place in late April/early May.
Do I need to apply online at this time for my child to attend Pre-K in GPISD?
No. The federally funded Pre-K and Pre-K tuition-based program's online application will be available in April.
Can I apply for each of the five available online applications?
Yes. Each student, depending on his or her next-year grade level, can submit a single application for each of the five available online applications.
The online application process will be open for five weeks including the week of Thanksgiving, from November 14 to December 16, 2016. All applications submitted online are intended for the 2017-18 school year.
