These are the words that have described Garner Elementary’s focus from the day the doors opened in 1987 to serve the new and growing Trailwood and Westchester subdivisions in far south Grand Prairie. Along with expansive retail development of the area south of Interstate 20 came growth and change for these neighborhoods.
From a beginning of around 300 students to an increase to over 700 students, Garner has focused on growing and changing while meeting the diverse needs of a changing community. In 2011, Garner was faced with closing, and needed a new plan to serve our community. In this, the Fine Arts Academy was born. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, Garner Fine Arts Academy serves approximately 550 students from all over the D/FW metroplex, and strives to be the destination school for elementary fine arts in the area.
Our mascot -the All Star- and our school colors red, white, and blue remind us we are bound by a common goal: meeting the needs of all families in our community with respect and a passion for success.
