GPHS Art Students Contribute to "Whirled" Peace Project
In September, GPHS art teacher Laura Trejo's students participated in the "Pinwheels for Peace" project. "Pinwheels for Peace" is an art installation project started in 2005 by two Art teachers, Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan, who teach at Monarch High School in Coconut Creek, Florida, as a way for students to express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives.
It's estimated that over 1.2 million pinwheels were spinning in more than 3,000 locations around the world on International Day of Peace, September 21, 2007. |
