Name: Gwen Brazelton
Welcome to GFAA 5th grade! I started out at an early age (4th grade) knowing I wanted to be a teacher. I have been teaching for the past 32 years in Grand Prairie. I started college at Oklahoma Christian University and finished earning my Bachelor's of Science degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. I have been teaching at Garner for the past 25 years since the doors opened. I consider Garner my home. I currently teach 5th grade Math, but have taught everything up through 8th grade including 25+ years in 4th grade.
I believe in challenging my students, and I teach at a higher level of understanding through mathematical inquiry. I have discovered that my students love the challenge and cannot wait to get to my class each and every day. I believe in a self-discovery, hands-on approach to learning. When visiting my classroom, you will witness small groups engaged in discussing various math concepts, working on projects, exploring and identifying mathematical patterns, and challenging one another. My goal is to make math fun and enjoyable. Come join us as we stretch our brains, grow our minds, and explore the world of math!
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge."
