    Hello Panther Family:

In an effort to ensure we collect all school district/campus items we have created a drop-off plan.  The drop off plan is designed to have the minimum person to person contact and to manage the health and safety of all involved by following state and local guidelines.  All items must be in a plastic/trash bag for the exception of band instruments.  On the outside of the bag, please write the Student Name, Student ID, and Organization.  In the next few days, you will receive a communication from your organization director, coordinator, and/or sponsor to notify you that your child has school property that should be returned on the dates listed below:

    Drop off days and times:

    May 12:  4pm – 7pm

    May 14 and 15: 1pm – 4pm

Each club/organization drop off location is below:

      • Boys athletics; (east side) outside door adjacent to the 6th grade hallway (across from the football field)
      • Girls athletics; West entrance door (adjacent to London Ln.)

    Hola Familia Pantera:

Fourth Quarter Grading Procedures Print PDF

The COVID-19 pandemic and the need to close the district, has created unique challenges as it relates to providing equitable learning opportunities for all students. This unprecedented event will impact the grading procedures for the district. Therefore, the following grading procedures will be implemented for the remainder of the Spring 2020 school year.

    Student Feedback

Providing feedback on student progress is very important and is a critical component for student success. The following items explain our philosophical approach to student feedback.

    • ●  Feedback on progress should be timely and specific for all assignments, regardless of the mode of learning.

    • ●  Think differently about feedback in a virtual environment - Consider opportunities for verbal & written feedback.

    • ●  Students and parents should not be surprised by grades at the end of the 4th quarter.

      Progress Reports

Elementary: Progress Reports are due on April 15, 2020. They will be uploaded and posted to Skyward Family Access on April 17, 2020.

Secondary: Progress Reports are due on April 15, 2020. They will be uploaded and posted to Skyward Family Access on April 17, 2020.

      UIL Eligibility

All UIL activities have currently been suspended until further notice pending guidance from the CDC.

    2020 4th Quarter Grading Procedures

    Grades

    • ●  The current grading procedures related to the minimum number of grades in a grading period will be suspended. Teachers will continue to monitor progress and provide feedback on progress as appropriate.

    • ●  Principals and teachers will work collaboratively with the support of the Teaching & Learning department to create meaningful online assignments aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge & Skills (TEKS) for each content area. For students without connectivity, meaningful assignments will be provided on paper for them to continue their learning.

    • ●  Students will earn a grade “Pass” or “Fail” for their demonstration of progress for Quarter 4. A “Pass” will be recorded as a 100, and a “Fail” will be recorded as a 69 in the gradebook. The following rubric will be used to determine Pass or Fail.

    2020 4th Quarter Grading Procedures

    Fail

    Pass

The student shows unsatisfactory progress in his/her learning.

    1. Student makes no effort to complete work, after several contacts from the teacher.

    2. Students’ work does not demonstrate learning according to activity specifications.

    3. Student has errors in thinking, misunderstanding of key concepts, or enough work is not completed for the teacher to measure student understanding.

The student shows satisfactory progress in his/her learning.

    1. Student shows effort to complete work by participating either virtually or by paper-based instructional activities.

    2. Students’ work demonstrates learning to the teacher according to activity specifications.

    3. Student work shows progress toward content understanding. Minor errors in thinking or misunderstanding of some elements may exist, but they do not impact overall understanding of the learning target.

    Transcripts

    • ●  For the determination of Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and other honors, class rank for the 2020 seniors will be based on the cumulative GPA earned at the end of the first semester.

    • ●  The final GPA for all students taking courses with high school credit in 2019 – 2020, including Honor Graduates mentioned above, will reflect grades through the end of second semester.

    • ●  Students who previously received approval from their high school counselor for a dual credit course and earned the college credit will receive credit on their GPISD transcript.

    • ●  Our dual credit college partners will determine the grading policy that will be reported on their college transcript.

      Final Examinations

Final Exams will not be administered at the conclusion of the Spring 2020 semester.
