1st Day Information
We are excited to get the 23-24 school year started tomorrow. As we get started, I wanted to remind you of a couple of things. I will also attach our previous emails containing more information about each topic.
Arrival / Dismissal
- Traffic around the school will be very heavy in the morning and afternoon. Please make sure to allow yourself enough time to navigate through the drop-off lines.
- The doors will open at 7:05, and the 1st period begins at 7:35.
- Students will report to their first-period classes to begin the day.
- Any student needing assistance can look for a staff member wearing a bright red SGP shirt. They will be ready to assist students in locating their classrooms.
7 Period School Day
- We are transitioning to a seven-period school day. Your student will attend all 7 of their classes each day.
- Students will have their lunch based on their 5th-period class. If they are in the Alexander building for the 5th period, they will utilize the cafeteria in the Alexander building. All other students will use the main cafeteria.
Schedules
- Students should be able to see their schedules in skyward. If the schedule is not visible, please ensure you have completed the online registration. After you have clicked the final submit button, you should receive a confirmation email, and the schedule will be visible immediately.
IDs and Dress Code
- Students must have their IDs on and visible during the school day.
- We will distribute student ID's during the first week of school.
- Students must adhere to the GPISD dress code policy:
- Please review the Student Handbook with your child to be aware of GPISD policies and practices:
Cell Phones/Electronics
- Cell phones and personal electronics are not allowed during class periods.
- Students can use their phones during passing periods and at lunch.
- I'm attaching the letter we sent last week with more details about the cell phone policy.

Information for Schedules in Skyward and Classroom Locations
We are so excited about the 1st day of school on Monday, August 14th. We want to ensure students can find their classrooms on the first day. We will have administartors, staff, and student leaders available to help students find their way on the first day of classes. After you have completed your registration, you will be able to view your schedule in skyward. Please make sure you check skyward again on Sunday, August 13th for any changes to your schedule that may have been made. We want to ensure students are going to the correct classes on the first day.
If you need help with your skyward login or anything else, please use this link:
After you view your schedule, you may wonder which building your classroom is in. We have classes in three buildings at SGP. The main campus, the Alexander Building, and the J wing.
- The J wing is located behind the main theater, and all classrooms in this building start with the letter “J” (ex. J303).
- The main campus houses hallways A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, L, M, N and P. Each room on the main campus has a traditional number system (ex. A118).
- A, B, C, D, L, N, and P are all located downstairs in the main building
- E, F, G, H, and M are located upstairs in the main building
- The Alexander building also has A, B, C, and D hallways. In addition, the rooms in the Alexander building have an “X” in the numbering system (ex. AX101).
We hope this eliminates any confusion about where to find your classroom.
