The Center for Law and Public Safety at Grand Prairie High School provides students with a strong academic foundation in legal, public safety, correctional, and security studies. In addition, the Center provides practical experience to students, enabling them to graduate as workforce-ready employees in the criminal justice field or students who are prepared to further their education at a post-secondary institution.
Legal Studies
Legal Studies pathway students’ coursework includes Business Law, Court Systems, and Legal Studies practicum. Students in the Legal Studies pathway also have many certification opportunities as well as intern and job shadow experiences with the Grand Prairie Prosecutors Office, Dallas County Courthouse, and various Law Firms in the DFW metroplex. Legal Studies students participate in SkillsUSA, Business Professionals of America, Junior Prosecutor’s Academy, Mock Trials as well as Local, State, and National Elections.
Legal Studies is offered through Programs of Choice at Grand Prairie High School.
Law Enforcement
Law Enforcement pathway students complete rigorous coursework in Law Enforcement with many certification opportunities as well as intern and job shadow experiences with the Grand Prairie Police Department, Campus Security, and various other organizations. Law Enforcement students participate in SkillsUSA, Junior Achievement, Texas Public Service Association, and Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association.
