The Sports Medicine pathway provides students with a strong academic foundation in health science as it relates to sports medicine. Students are provided with opportunities to learn about career opportunities within the field of sports medicine while participating in advanced health science technology courses covering concepts such as basic and applied sciences, fitness assessments, rationale and components of integrated training, program design and application, special populations administration, nutrition and supplementation and behavior modification, along with internship experiences on and off the playing field. Special opportunities include job shadowing, conferences by guest speakers and special event attendance. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in HOSA, a career and technical student organization designed to enhance their overall experience in the program.
Sports Medicine is offered through Programs of Choice at Grand Prairie High School and South Grand Prairie High School.
