Daily Living Skills at Travis World Language Academy

  • Special Education

In DLS, we work with our students by teaching them functional and educational skills based on their individual capabilities. We work on activities using a variety of techniques in group activities and individual instruction.

Our school day activities will include working on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, different sensory activities, communication, and functional life skills (i.e. feeding, toileting, and self-care). We work on total communication by using adaptive switches, pictures, objects, some words, and sign language.

Depending on each student’s individual goals, we also work in different subject areas such as, math, language arts, science, and social studies. Students may also receive special services such as, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Vision Therapy, and Music Therapy.

In DLS, all of my students are very hard workers and every school year they work hard meeting their individual goals!
