Home-School Connection: Student Achievement
Pre-K students by their very nature are inquisitive, active learners across all contexts. It's critical that during this window of development where 90% of a child's brain is developed that we intentionally ensure learning across the two context where they spend the majority of their time - at home and at school.
Home-school connections forge strong bonds and through their experiences teaches students the importance of education. Numerous studies have document student academic gains through home-to-school connections. In a National Education Association review of the Research on Best Practices in Education it was noted, “When schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more.” (A New Wave of Evidence, Southwest Educational Development Laboratory: 2002).
