
Sallye Moore's career in education covered a span of over forty years. She was the first African American to hold the Associate Superintendent position in GPISD. Before serving in this position, she honed her skills as a dedicated teacher at Dalworth High School and Grand Prairie High School. She steadily progressed through a variety of positions with increasing responsibilities. She also served as a counselor and instructional leader at Grand Prairie High School and later served as principal at Dalworth Elementary School. Mrs. Moore always set high standards and expectations for herself and for her students in her roles as a devoted and accomplished Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, and in her final role as Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Several GPISD schools achieved Exemplary status in the Texas Accountability system during her tenure as Assistant and Associate Superintendent.
Sallye Moore is known throughout Grand Prairie not only for her accomplishments in education, but for her contributions to the community. She worked relentlessly throughout the community for fair and equal opportunity for all human beings. While she has been cited for her many awards and all of her accomplishments, Ms. Moore has never lost the human touch.
