Chancellor

  • Dr. Felicia Layne, Principal Dr. Felicia Layne, Chancellor

    Greetings,

It is with great excitement that I enter my fifth year as chancellor of the best school in the world – Grand Prairie Collegiate Institute! This year marks my twenty-fifth as an educator (twenty-two of those in GPISD) serving as a classroom teacher, school counselor, and dean.

As a native of Shreveport, LA, I received my bachelor’s and master’s degree both from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. After moving to Texas, I obtained my counseling certification from Dallas Baptist University and my principal certification from the University of Texas – Arlington. In 2015, I received my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.

When I am not at school, I love spending time with my husband and daughter. I also enjoy reading, decorating, photography, traveling and discovering new places to dine. Additionally, I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

I am thrilled to think about the learning and growth that will continue to transpire at GPCI this year. Of all the schools you could have attended, I am honored that you chose to be a part of the fine GPCI family. I invite you to partner with us as we continue to produce world-class scholars. Since the inception of GPCI in 2013, there has been a culture steeped in rich tradition and academic excellence.

I look forward to another amazing year with our scholars, families, staff, and community members. Please know that my door is always open, so feel free to reach out to me at any time.
