    April D. Wyatt joined the Whitt Fine Arts Academy in 2009, following seven years of service within Grand Prairie Independent School District. Her career began at Houston Elementary, where she taught 4th grade for three years before being named an Administrative Intern at Travis Elementary.  She then went to become an Assistant Principal at Crockett Elementary and served in the role for three years. Before joining GPISD, Mrs. Wyatt taught third and fourth grade in Lancaster ISD.  

    Mrs. Wyatt grew up in Dallas and attended school in the Dallas Independent School District, graduating from Lincoln Communications Magnet High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Huston-Tillotson College with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She earned her master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A & M Commerce in 2007.

    Mrs. Wyatt views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. She believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at the Whitt Fine Arts Academy to ensure each student reaches his/her academic potential. 

    During her free time, Mrs. Wyatt enjoys reading, attending concerts and sporting events, and spending time with family.
