Grand Prairie ISD is prepared and ready to serve our students through in-person face-to-face instruction for the 2020-2021 school year. In addition to our highly qualified instructional staff, our campuses each have a registered nurse on staff to provide researched-based, high quality medical care to students. Increased health and safety protocols will be implemented to aid in the prevention of the spread of COVID-19. These protocols include, but are not limited to, heightened cleaning and disinfectant schedules, required face coverings, hand-washing schedules and hand-sanitizer stations, COVID-19 self-screening for all staff members, and social distancing. In the event that students participating in In-Person Learning are required to quarantine, the students will transition immediately into the At-Home Academy Model for the duration of the quarantine period.
In our In-Person Model:
Students will attend school on a regular instructional schedule and will engage in face-to-face learning on campus all day, every day.
Instruction will be provided by highly qualified Grand Prairie ISD teachers at student’s home campus.
Teachers will follow District curriculum, unit sequencing and pacing of instruction aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
Staff will be required to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms, which will include daily temperature checks, prior to reporting to work each day and are required to wear a face covering at all times, as appropriate.
Parents/guardians are expected to screen their children for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending them to school.
Teachers will monitor students and refer to the nurse if symptoms are present.
Class size will depend on the number of students who choose to participate in on-campus learning.
Desks or tables will be socially distanced as much as instructionally possible.
Student movement will be staggered to limit the number of people in various areas during transitions.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be readily available and thorough hand washing will be practiced. Staff will limit the use of shared supplies when possible and have access to disinfectant wipes to sanitize high- touch and working surfaces as well as shared objects.
Expectations for coursework and guidelines for grading for In-Person Learning and At-Home Academy will be the same.
