School Lunch Plan
Free meals for all Grand Prairie ISD students will continue for the 2021-22 school year.
Every GPISD student is eligible for one free breakfast meal and one free lunch meal every school day through the last day of school, May 26, 2022
GPISD encourages our families to complete the Free/Reduced Meal Application for the 2021-2022 school year. The application provides more than free meals. Although every student in GPISD will receive free breakfast and lunch this year, completing the application gives families the opportunities for other services such as:
- Completing the application is the first step toward qualifying for P-EBT funds. Visit this page for more information about P-EBT benefits.
- Additional funding for your campus.
- Reduced or waived fees for academic testing like ACT or SAT and college application fees.
- Benefits continue through the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year.
Students at all GPISD campuses will receive their free breakfasts in the cafeteria serving lines or in the classroom depending on the grade level. All lunches will be served in the cafeteria during designated meal periods. Second meals, additional entrees, sides and snacks will also be available for purchase. Adults may purchase meals at the cost of $3.50 for breakfast and $4.00 for lunch.
The free meals are federally funded and are being made possible due to waivers placed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to ensure all children have access to nutritious food.
Families that might qualify for the Free and Reduced Price School Meals program are still encouraged to submit an application for the 2021-22 school year because it provides valuable benefits and services to children such as P-EBT benefits.
GPISD’s Child Nutrition Services has served more the 2 million free meals to our families since March 2020. Our focus is serving safe, nutritious and quality meals while encouraging students to develop the skills to make healthy food choices for a lifetime.
