Hispanic Heritage Month: Excellence in Education Award 2021
Our World Languages & Cultures Department gladly announces our second year granting the “Hispanic Heritage Month Excellence in Education Award”. This contest is open to any full-time Hispanic Educator who works in an elementary, middle, or high school at GPISD, that have made an extraordinary positive contribution to their school communities. Nominations may be submitted by a any GPISD staff, parents/guardians, or students.
All nomination entries must be received no later than 6:00 PM CT on Thursday, September 23rd, 2021. To submit your nomination, you must complete the following Form:
Awards: Three winners will be selected: one Elementary Teacher (grades K-5), one Middle School Teacher (grades 6-8), and one High School Teacher (grades 9-12). Winners will be notified on Friday, October 1st, 2021. Once the winners are announced, the decision is final.

National Hispanic Heritage Month 2021: Student's Essay Contest
Grades-Categories: 4th-5th / 6th – 8th / 9th-12th
The National Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest is open to all students attending any GPISD school in grades 4th to 12th. Three winners will be selected: one elementary school student (grades 4th-5th), one middle school student (grades 6th-8th), and one high school student (grades 9th -12th).
Entry Dates: Entries can be mailed or submitted electronically. All entries must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

Checklist:
- Complete all the questions in the Google Form and type in your essay
- Upload a picture of your filled “Entry Form”
- Upload a picture of your filed “Parent/Legal Guardian Waiver Form & Release Statement”

Mrs. Lienhoa Nguyen is our LOTE Vietnamese Teacher at Travis World Languages Academy. These past weeks her students have been learning about this cultural holiday and how it is observed in Vietnam. Today, Friday, February 12th, 2021 they are celebrating!

The Memory Project 2020-2021
The Memory Project" is a nonprofit organization that promotes “intercultural kindness, creating unique childhood memories, showing children around the world that they are valued.” Students engage in one-to-one peace-building with peers from another country. The work by artists from Travis World Languages Academy and Grand Prairie High School will be sent to students from Afghanistan.
