John A. Dubiski Career High School is a GPISD public high school of choice with a focus on equipping students with the skills they need for 21st century professions. Students choose a sequential course of study designed to prepare them for a 2-year, 4-year, or technical college. In addition to their high school diploma, students are also eligible to complete programs that award them with advanced certifications, industry training, and internship and career-field experiences. Dubiski offers HB5 endorsements including STEM, Business & Industry, and Public Service.

Curriculum Offerings
Advanced Placement Courses
Dubiski Career High School offers 13 Advanced Placement courses. Students will receive a weighed .5 credit for each semester, and students test at the end of the year for the opportunity to earn college credit. College credit is awarded based on the students selected college.
Dual Credit Courses
Dubiski Career High School offers 7 Dual Credit courses. Students will receive 0.5 high school course credit for successful completion of this college course. In order for students to receive state graduation credit for concurrent enrollment courses, content requirements must meet or exceed the essential knowledge and skills in a given course.
OnRamps Courses
Dubiski Career High School offers 12 OnRamps courses. OnRamps works through a dual-enrollment model. Using a hybrid delivery approach, students meet rigorous university-level college readiness standards and have the opportunity to earn UT Austin credit from a UT faculty member and high school credit from their local teacher. All OnRamps courses can be applied to the Texas Common Core and are guaranteed to transfer to any public institution in Texas. OnRamps incorporates an organized data and action analytics approach to support students, teachers, and districts in their pursuit of educational excellence.

Academic Decathlon
Students join to compete in a scholastic competition against other high school students.
DCHS Scholars/161 Mentoring
Dubiski Scholars offers students an opportunity to explore college and career outside of the college center. Students get to research scholarship programs and universities that they may be interested in, and the sponsors offer additional information on career pathways and advanced academics. There is also a branch of Dubiski scholars that has 161 mentoring where seniors are paired up with underclassmen to help guide them in college, career, and military throughout the school year.
Dubiski Esports
A club that provides students the opportunity to compete in organized competitive gameplay.
Dubiski Restoration Crew
A club where Auto Tech, Auto Collision, and Diesel Tech students work on automotive restoration pieces throughout the year.
GEEK Club
A club where students get together to play video, board, and card games and activities.
Kindness Crew
Students come together to promote kindness and compassion in the school community.
LBGTQ Alliance
This group is a support for LGBTQ students and supporters where they meet to discuss issues, view media, and talk about current events with one another.
League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)
LULAC is a civic organization that focuses on building pride and community among Latin American Citizens. Their goal is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, and civil rights of the Hispanic population in the U.S.
Music Club
A club where students are able to express themselves through the art of music as well as learn music recording, filming music videos, and creating and producing live videos.
National Advancement for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
The mission of the NAACP Club is to ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race by developing a new generation of civil rights and community leaders. The NAACP Club aims to advance the economic, educational, social, and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities, and their harmonious cooperation with other peoples.
National Honor Society
To highlight hard work of students with leadership, character, integrity, and service. We work to improve our community through community service.

Student led organization to promote leadership skills.
Young Creative Writers of Grand Prairie
The Young Creative Writers Club is a creative writing workshop club to help students progress in their own creative writing.

CTSO Offerings
BPA
Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO for middle school, high school, or post-secondary students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology, and other related career fields. Members are high school students enrolled or formerly enrolled in initial, refresher, or upgrading business, career technical, and career or related education programs.
DECA
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DECA’s Comprehensive Learning program integrates into classroom instruction, applies learning, connects to business, and promotes competition. DECA prepares the next generation to be academically prepared, community oriented, professional responsible, and experienced leaders
FFA
FFA prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resource systems. FFA increases awareness of global technological importance of agriculture, develops competent agricultural leadership, builds self-confidence, promotes cooperation and cooperative attitudes, and promotes citizenship, volunteerism, and patriotism.
HOSA
The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill, and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore helping students to meet the needs of the health-care community.
SkillsUSA
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure that America has a skilled workforce. It provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes, and communication skills. It emphasizes total quality at work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, lifelong education, and pride in the dignity or work.
TSA
TSA provides leadership and opportunities in technology, innovation, design and engineering. Members apply STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) concepts through co-curricular programs.

Can you receive an Associate degree while at Dubiski?
Although we have a multitude of dual credit offerings, DCHS is built around pathway courses, not an Associate degree.

Can you play sports or participate in fine arts while at Dubiski?
Dubiski does not offer sports or fine arts programs. While we do not have these programs, we do offer many clubs and organizations where students can compete and be actively involved on campus.

What if I want to change my pathway?
If there is availability in the pathway you are considering, then Administration will consider the request. Although we do look into pathway changes, no changes can be made after a student’s Sophomore year.

How does my student get an internship?
Students receive the opportunity to interview with one of our various intern providers for an internship. Internship opportunities occur during a student’s Junior and Senior year depending on the pathway they are in. Internships are not guaranteed.

Is there a dress code at Dubiski?
Yes, Dubiski students are required to follow the DCHS Student Dress Code. Students are to be in professional dress at all times to provide a professional atmosphere around campus.

What are the requirements to be accepted into Dubiski?
Dubiski is an application only school, so students must apply. If a student is already an in-district student, then Administrators look at discipline and attendance. No discipline should on the students record, and students must be in attendance 95% of the time. Out of district students have the same discipline and attendance criteria, plus must have a passing mark on all STAAR tests, as well as an 80% average on grades.

Is Dubiski only for students that want to enter the career field after high school?
No, Dubiski prepares students to be successful after graduation at a 2-year college, 4-year university, or in their career field of choice. Students are able to earn pathway specific certifications during their time at Dubiski that put them ahead of other academic students and those in career fields.
