ESSER III Updates: What’s Happening Right Now?
On June 17, 2021, Grand Prairie ISD formally submitted its application for ESSER III grant funds to the Texas Education Agency. Within a matter of days—on June 24th to be exact—the Notice of Grant Award, or NOGA, arrived. The NOGA we received on that date was for the initial allocation of $35,426,179, which is 2/3 of the full amount that the District will eventually receive. We have been notified that we can now amend the application and apply for the remaining third of the funds.
With a large portion of the grant now in hand, the members of the ESSER III Action Team have been working diligently with departmental personnel to analyze needs and formulate plans that will maximize the benefit of these grant funds for students and staff.
We want to keep you informed about ESSER III at every step along the way, and over the next three years we will be communicating on a regular basis about how the funds are being used to address learning loss and social emotional issues, support technology and instruction, and create safe physical environments across the District. As a part of the effort to maintain transparency, we are providing for your review the initial application and NOGA here.
