  • Kevin Velasquez, Director, Directing/Musical Theatre

    Kevin Velasquez joined The Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy in 2015 as the middle school theatre director. Velasquez now serves as one of four directors at GPFAA and works with both middle school and high school. Mr. Velasquez’s favorite “Be” phrase is “Be You” which he encourages in all of his students. He loves all things theatre and has been an active member of the DFW theatre community for the last 14 years serving in various positions including as a member of the board of directors for The Duncanville Community Theatre and hosting camps for young performers in the summer. Velasquez enjoys playwriting and recently premiered one of his works, The Zombies from Webster Street at The Ft. Worth Fringe Festival. When not directing, acting or writing Velasquez collaborates with organizations that help economically disadvantaged and underserved schools establish sustainable theatre programs. This marks his 16th year of teaching and in that time Velasquez has directed over 200 productions with his students. Aside from theatre, Mr. Velasquez enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with his husband Chris and their children Kennedy and her husband Aaron, Jace, Andy, Samantha an Benito.

  • Brooke Potts, Director, Costuming, Directing/Musical TheatreBrooke Potts

    Mrs. Potts was homeschooled in Prosper, Texas, and graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre (emphasis in education) in 2015. Throughout all of her schooling, she participated in both professional and community theatre. Post-college, she completed the Disney College Program at Walt Disney World. She began teaching at GPFAA in 2017. Mrs. Potts married Cameron Potts in 2016 and since then they have adopted a cat named Catlyn and a dog named Finn. Cameron also has a passion for theatre and teaches at Lewisville High School. She teaches Musical Theatre, Art & Media Communication, and Directing.

  • Robert Clark, Director, Tech Theatre

    Robert Clark is excited for his first year with GPFAA! Robert graduated from UNT with a B.A. in Theatre Design / Technology, Minor in Spanish. He has worked professionally as a designer, carpenter, technical director, and painter for DFW Theatres including: Richardson Theatre Center, Junior Players, Shakepseare Dallas, Pocket Sandwich Theatre, Richland College, Bishop Lynch High School, Allen Community Theatre, UNT Opera, Dallas Theatre Center, Watertower Theatre, Artes de la Rosa, and of course, UNT Theatre. In his spare time, he enjoys playing Dungeons and Dragons, planting, and printing 3D objects to share with his coworkers.

  • Rebekah Lowery, Director, Acting/Muscial Theatre

    Mrs. Lowery has been in love with acting since she was only 4 years old and took her first acting classes at Casa Manana.  She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre (performance emphasis) and a minor in Business in 2012. She was the lead theatre director for Duncanville High School for 8 years before joining GPFAA.  Her favorite part of teaching is seeing the magical moment when a young actor truly locks into acharacter for the first time. She is married to her high school theatre sweetheart, Damone Lowery, and they have four sons.
