Nursing Education Goal
Nursing education offers health services related courses, classes, and certifications to help educate staff, students, parents, and the community with the goal to prepare those to critically think, perform heath related emergent intervention, and application of knowledge in their setting to increase safety and wellbeing at a local level.

UDCA training
We are proud to provide U.D.C.A. training in accordance with Texas House Bill 984 Unlicensed Diabetes Care Assistants (UDCAs).
HB984 was established in 2005 as a requirement for public schools to provide trained staff, who are not healthcare providers, but have basic knowledge and skills in the care of children with diabetes. These trained but unlicensed people are referred to as UDCA(s).
This training is a Hybrid training that will include both online and in-person trainings.

- Part 1 is an online training that can be completed either on Canvas or Google Classroom.
- Part 2 is with the district Nurse Educator as a hands-on practicum on diabetes that is in-person typically conducted at DAEP from 830am to 12:30pm dates vary.
- Part 3 is with their campus nurse that is individualized to the needs of the diabetic student(s). (This portion is only conducted if there is a diabetic patient-student on campus).

Stop the Bleed Training
Step 1: Pre-requisite:

- Complete the online interactive course, and save the email as proof of completion.
Step 2: Then you can participate with us in the Stop the Bleed training in person as your part 2 practicum.
- Location: Johnson DAEP Campus
- Time: 430-630pm
This is a free course, there is no childcare provided, all are welcome to take this course: open to staff, students, parents, community.
