ACT
GPISD currently pays for all 11th grade students to take the ACT School Day Assessment in March. The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. The ACT test covers four academic skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and scientific reasoning. Seniors are welcome to register and pay to take the assessment during the school day (there are no vouchers accepted for school day). Seniors wanting to take the assessment must register and pay for their assessment, no later than the last school day in December. Please see your campus testing coordinator.
PSAT/NMSQT
GPISD currently pays for specific students in 11th grade, who meet academic/testing requirements set by GPISD, to take the NMSQT in October. The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized assessment closely connected to the SAT and cosponsored by the College Board and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Juniors are welcome to register and pay to take the assessment during the school day (there are no vouchers accepted for school day). Juniors wanting to take the assessment must register and pay for their assessment no later than the last school day in August. Please see your campus testing coordinator.
PreACT
GPISD currently pays for all 10th grade students to take the PreACT School Day Assessment in October. The PreACT covers four academic skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and scientific reasoning. The assessment allows students to participate in the National assessment and prepares them to take the ACT in their junior year.
Registering for ACT or SAT (Saturday Testing)
Students can register to take the ACT or the SAT on a Saturday by registering directly through each organization. Grand Prairie High School is a testing site for the convenience of our students. Testing does have a fee specified by each organization. Students on free and reduced lunch can qualify for a testing voucher that will allow them to take the assessment for free/reduced rate. Please see your administrator or counselor for more information.
