Behavioral Threat Assessment Management
-
Grand Prairie ISD understands how important it is to respond to safety concerns early and, if possible, before they escalate. As educators charged with the care of younger generations, we take the responsibility of safety and security very seriously.
Grand Prairie ISD has a comprehensive student behavioral threat assessment and management process designed to provide for the safety, security, and support of all those in our care. This process complies with Texas Senate Bill 11 mandates and aligns our safety and security plans with best practices in violence prevention initiatives.
The purpose of behavioral threat assessment in K-12 schools is to proactively identify and assess concerning behaviors within the school community so that effective strategies can be employed to de-escalate behaviors. Threat assessment is a proactive and systematic process designed to prevent violence, ensure a safe learning environment, and provide appropriate interventions for individuals who may be exhibiting concerning behaviors. Grand Prairie ISD's behavioral threat assessment and management system is non-punitive and entirely separate from existing disciplinary or criminal violation consequences and processes. Our goal is to provide dynamic learning environments that provide for the safety and well-being of the entire school community.
