School Board Meetings

Citizen participation is a key part of democratic governance, and we welcome the public to our monthly Board meetings. 

In order to maintain a safe and civil environment, these are the expectations for meetings of the Grand Prairie ISD Board of Trustees:

• Participants should be respectful of others and conduct themselves in a civil and courteous manner.
• No signs will be allowed in the meeting.
• Disruption of the proceedings of the Board will not be tolerated.
• Participants should follow the rules of the meeting, such as the decision of the board president to shorten public comment. 

It is expected that you will observe the rules of courtesy, professionalism, and respect for the rights of others when addressing the Board. Disruption of the meeting will not be tolerated. Violators will be removed if their conduct continues after a warning. The Board President reserves the right to set procedures and standards for audience communication with the Board. 

No interaction with the media will occur in the Board room unless authorized by the Board President or designee.

Violations of these expectations may result in removal from the meeting.

Open Forum Participation at Board Meetings

The GPISD Board of Trustees and Administration welcome community participation at regularly scheduled monthly board meetings. If you wish to address the Board during Open Forum at a meeting, please complete an Open Forum Participation form (found on tables at the back of the Board Room) and give it to a District designee before the meeting begins. The Board President will recognize you at the appropriate time.

If your topic is one of the Agenda Items, the Board President will recognize you during the first Open Forum.  If your topic is not an Agenda Item, the Board President will recognize you during the second open forum.

Remarks should be limited to three minutes or less.
