Routes to Certification in Texas
Additional Teacher Certification Information
Certification
Basic teacher requirements in Texas:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Complete teacher training through an approved program
- Successfully complete the appropriate TExES/ExCET exams
Teachers who are certified out of state or out of country:
- You can transfer acceptable credentials in order to become certified in Texas. More information.
Degree from another country without teacher certification:
- Must go through a certification program and have transcripts evaluated.
