About Our School
Hobbs Williams Elementary opened in the fall of 2008 with approximately 350 students. It is named in honor of a long time educator in Grand Prairie who served in the areas of teacher, coach, principal and superintendent. Hobbs Williams attended the dedication ceremony in October 2008 before his death in the spring of 2009. We are honored to be named after such an outstanding educator!! Hobbs Williams Elementary Philosophy
Whether you realize it or not, everything you do from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to sleep is a choice. Choosing to be a leader, rather than a follower, looking at the positive, rather than the negative, are all struggles we all face each day. There is a story in the Native American culture, author unknown that speaks of this very pull between right and wrong.
One evening an old Cherokee man told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside him, inside everyone.
He said, "My son, we all have two wolves fighting in our hearts. One is Good. It is love, hope, truth, empathy, kindness,
generosity, trust and compassion. The other is Bad. It is anger, envy, jealousy, greed, self-pity, lies, false pride and arrogance.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf will win the battle?” The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
Which one will you feed? Which choices will you make? We are here to stand by you and support you as you learn and grow. These choices inevitably will affect your future; and what a bright future you can have, IF YOU CHOOSE! At this school we travel in packs, and we protect our young. After all, we are the...................HOBBS WILLIAMS WOLVES!
"For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack"
