The Gifted and Talented Curriculum is an integrated, interdisciplinary program. Units taught are thematic with an emphasis on integrating reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. Unit length may be from one week to several weeks long depending on the unit and grade level. Approximately three times a year, I will send home a Florence Hill Gifted and Talented Newsletter to give you a brief snapshot as to what is being covered in each class. We will be taking field trips that correlate with our units, and I will notify you as to when they will be. If you are interested in accompanying us on any of these field trips, please be sure to fill out the “volunteer ” form that you may access online at www.gpisd.org. Click on “Community”, then “Volunteers”. Select the “Texas Safe Schools Project form”. Once you have completed this, it takes approximately one to two weeks to be completed. Without this being completed, you will not be able to attend any field trips with us.
