School Counselor

Welcome to the school year 2020-2021 at Hector P. Garcia Elementary! As your school counselor I am excited to provide guidance for all our students’ social, emotional and academic needs.  My goals for our students are to be kind and show respect to all peers, teachers and administrators at all times, to apply coping strategies to assist in bringing the mind and body to a calm state and to engage in conflict-resolution techniques with peers. I value college and career readiness and believe in modeling for students disciplined and organizational skills to prepare them for higher education. 

Information regarding parent workshops, kindness challenges, service learning projects, attendance incentives, Red Ribbon week, GenTX week and all other counseling activities can be found in the newsletters I will be sending and on Twitter @TorosCounselor. Newsletters will also be posted on the school’s website under Counseling Services located in the Our School tab.  

I have been with Grand Prairie ISD for ten years. I taught grades kindergarten and second grade. I enjoy seeing children grow and achieve their goals. Please do not hesitate to contact me for assistance. I look forward to serving all our students this school year.
