First of all I want to tell you how happy I am to be a part of the Marshall Leadership Academy family. For 12 years I taught, here in GPISD, Dual Language education in 2nd and 3rd grade, I was one of the pioneers of the program in this district and helped it develop. Also, I worked as a Math and Science strategist for Houston Elementary for one year after which time I decided to stay home with my young children. While home with my children I began my Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from the University of North Texas and I specialized in school counseling and clinical counseling. I began working as a clinical counselor in private practice and now I have also began working as a school counselor here at Marshall. I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from the University of Texas in Arlington, and an Associate’s Degree in Communication from the University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo.
As a school counselor it is my hope to provide academic, career, and social and emotional support, for all the children at Marshall, and to develop their knowledge and skills in these areas as well. I believe that we construct our points of view about life at an early age and it is my goal to help children begin making positive points of view about themselves, others, and the world.
Some services provided by the counseling office at Marshall are social and emotional assistance, grief support, divorce support, emergency resources for families in need (rental assistance, bills assistance, clothing), suicide prevention, and parenting support amongst others. Please feel free to contact me at the number or email provided above if you ever need anything. I just want you to know I am here to serve you.
