Gifted and Talented

  • By definition of the Texas Education Code, a gifted student is one who "performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment, and who exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area, possesses an unusual capacity for leadership or excels in a specific academic field."

Identified gifted students at the elementary level take part in a pull-out program in grades 1 - 5. Instruction for this class is provided by an Advanced Academics/Gifted Specialist who may serve two campuses. Curriculum units are interdisciplinary and incorporate logical, critical and creative thinking skills into core academic areas of math, language arts, science, and social studies.
