The Visual Arts Department at the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy is a place where art is taught and practiced daily. Through the guidance of teachers, students are prepared with a strong foundation in preparation for 21st-century career and collegiate opportunities. Our rigorous course study offers time for concentrated effort, requiring a high degree of commitment. Acceptance into GPFAA is based on a high level of art appreciation and art experience. Students in the Visual Arts strand will receive a well-rounded education designed to strengthen their portfolio and artistic experiences as they advance through their academic careers.
Audition Information and Requirements
Visual Arts auditions will be in the form of 4-5-minute video via YouTube.
Artists will need to:
- Introduce themselves in the video and explain why they want to pursue a position in the GPFAA Visual Arts Program
- Show 5-7 pieces of art from this academic school year
- Select 2 of those pieces to talk further in depth
- The artist will conclude the audition by giving us three personal traits that express what they can contribute to our program
The featured artwork should be still images fixed on the screen while the student records themselves
talking through the meaning and process. However, the introduction and closing needs to feature the actual student speaking.
YouTube video links will be submitted through the official GPFAA Audition Submission Form that will be sent out once the application is processed.
After receiving audition videos, we may request a synchronous callback interview via Zoom. Interviewees will be contacted via the email provided in the application for scheduling date and time. Be aware the interview is for our directors to gather more information and does indicate either acceptance or denial into GPFAA Art Strand.
**Please note: A resume will be accepted but not required.
