• Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy is one of the only academies that recognizes and offers beginner mariachi to 6th graders, and intermediate and advanced mariachi at the middle and high school levels. We are focused on the goal of creating and encouraging musicians that wish to flourish in this traditionally filled genre. We are always looking for good men and women to join our growing family of Mariachi Sol Azteca!

    Mariachi Performing

Throughout the school year, we perform at a variety of venues. We perform for local Grand Prairie events, the DFW metroplex events and private gigs.

We had a phenomenal year in 2016-17 beginning with winning Mariachi Nationals of Jose Hernandez. We competed in Mariachi Vargas, where we were in the top five of that event. We also placed 2nd in the Texas Association of Mariachi Educators Mariachi State Finals, and received a 1st division at the UIL State Mariachi Festival. The group also competed at local competitions such as the Grand Prairie Mariachi Festival, placing 1st out of 11 competing groups and the Fort Worth Extravaganza where the group received a 1st division but was chosen as best in class.

    Las Cruces

2017-18 begins with exciting opportunities.  The group will be traveling to Las Cruces, New Mexico for a competition/workshop event with Mariachi Cobre teaching the classes.  We are striving to reach the 1st place at the TAME State finals and continue our success with UIL State Mariachi.  We will be ending our school year with a trip to Hawaii in May where we will play at the Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona monument, bringing our joy of mariachi music to locals. Aloha!
