• Important Information for Summer 2024 Graduates

Students need to arrive 60 minutes before the ceremony begins. They will enter at the venue according to the plan for each location. No seat-swapping is allowed.

    Dress Code for Graduates:

Graduating seniors should already be wearing their caps and gowns when they arrive at the venue. Graduates should be reminded that no distracting, disruptive or unauthorized items will be allowed during the formal graduation ceremonies. This is a special day for each graduate and their guests and GPISD looks forward to a respectful, orderly ceremony for all.

    Diplomas for Graduates:

Graduating seniors will be given an empty campus graduation cover during the actual ceremony. The authentic, original diploma will be provided to the graduate after the ceremony. Please check with each individual campus for how this will be handled for your campus.

Important Information for Family Members, Guests, and Employees

    Bag Policy at GPISD

    Arrival and Entrance

All graduates will have specific information for their arrival time and the entrance to each venue provided by the campus. Graduates are urged to arrive on time as there will be no delay to starting time of graduation and we are excited to include every graduate.

Family members and other guests may arrive up to 60 minutes before the ceremony begins.  They must use the identified entrance for each venue and present their ticket to gain entrance.

GPISD Faculty and Staff Arrival and Enter

Faculty and staff may arrive up to 60 minutes before the ceremony begins. They will enter through the entrance as identified by their campus administration. Faculty and staff must present their tickets to gain admittance.  Every employee should wear his or her GPISD badge.

Lasting Memories of a Special Moment: Photos

GPISD campuses will utilize photographic services to capture the moment when each senior receives his or her high school diploma.

    Number of Graduation Tickets

Every attempt will be made to provide as many guest tickets as possible to each graduate. Each student will receive graduation tickets from their campus. This year, we are hosting graduation at two different venues, so the number of tickets provided to each senior may be different.

Where and When to Pick Up Tickets

Graduates will pick up the tickets for themselves and their families and guests at their school. Each school will designate a specific date, time and location for the graduation ticket pick up event. Graduates will be made aware of the details about the ticket pick up event.

Graduates: Be on the lookout for a notification from your school about when you should pick up your tickets and make plans to attend your ticket pick up event.

If graduates do not pick up their tickets for graduation, guests WILL NOT be able to enter the graduation venue without a ticket.

    Guidelines For Graduation Venues

    What Guests Need To Know

We want our graduates, their families and guests, and our employees to enjoy each graduation venue and to use it respectfully. Before you make plans for your celebration, please review the house rules of each graduation venue below:

    • No tailgating in the parking lots at any time
    • No congregating, either before or after graduation ceremonies
    • No bags (bags that contain medical supplies are allowed, as are manufactured diaper bags)
    • No signs, air horns, flowers, balloons, glitter, confetti, silly string, or any other disruptive item will be allowed inside the venue

Children younger than 12 months are admitted free at Grand Prairie events provided that they sit on an adult's lap and do not occupy a seat.

Preparing For The Big Day: Caps And Gowns

    Caps and Gowns

Graduates must pick up their caps and gowns on the dates sent from their school. Families should work together to remind their graduate about picking up the cap and gown. Any grad who did not order a cap and gown should visit or contact Brad Golden with Jostens by calling 817-461-6837 or by emailing him at

    Graduation Regalia

In addition to the required cap, gown, and tassel, students may only wear cords, stoles, medals, or approved regalia awarded/approved by the Grand Prairie Independent School District.

There are no exceptions to the approved graduation regalia; however, there are other campus senior recognition activities (example: Senior Walk) at which other regalia can be worn.
