  • Schedule Change Information

    Student Schedule Change Process

    1. Student completes a ½ credit course.
    2. Teacher will input grade in SEM 1 or SEM2 grading bucket in Skyward
    3. Student will remain in that classroom until the next business day. Student can work on another Canvas course for which he or she is already registered.
    4. Upon student’s return to the school or your class, student will report to the counselor to get a new course.

  • Mission Statement

    The mission of Crosswinds Accelerated High School is to provide proactive, comprehensive, developmentally appropriate preventative and responsive counseling services. The counseling department provides equal access to all students, to address students usnique academic and career goals. We strive to support their personal and social needs within a positive school climate. Partnering with parents/guardians, staff and the community members has empowered students to explore their passions. Tapping into student interest and talents has lead to increased engagement and continued growth on our campus. Students have been able to identify personal strengths that can enable them to achieve their personal and academic goals.

We will promote and environment to encourage personal inquiry and a growth mindset focusing on social responsibility and academic excellence. Our collaborative team of counselors, staff, parents/guardians and community members work together to create a supportive, safe and caring atmosphere to promote high academic achievement. Our goal is to help students develop skills to work to their fullest potential and have access to the knowledge and skills necessary to be globally competetive, life-long learners.

Mr. Nobriga

About Me:

Keith Nobriga is a Crosswinds Accelerated Counselor serving students (A-L). Nobriga has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesociology from the University of               Texas at Arlington, and a Master's of Education Degree in Counseling from Lamar University. Nobriga has acquired a certification in Youth Mental                         Health. My educational experience prior to GPISD stems from gaining experience as a PE Teacher & Basketball Coach for Crowley ISD for 7 years. Mr. Nobriga enjoys spending time with his wife and attending church activities. He enjoys Halmark movies especially the Christmas ones and he is an avid Taylor Swift fan.

Mrs. Schavonda Burton-Johnson

 Counselor M-Z

Schavonda Burton-Johnson is the Crosswinds Accelerated High School Counselor serving students with last names beginning with M-Z”.  

Mrs. Johnson has a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.

Before joining the Crosswinds team, Mrs. Johnson served as the school counselor at GPISD’s DATA at Adams Middle School for 11 years and LBJ Elementary School for three years.  Prior to working in Grand Prairie, she served as a teacher for nine years in Dallas ISD.

Mrs. Johnson utilizes a solution-focused approach when working with students.  This strategy allows her to assist students with goal-setting and making positive decisions for the future. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the first counseling team at GPISD to earn the CREST Award for Texas Counselors. She is also a Lone Star State School Counseling Gold Award winner.

When she’s not serving the students, Mrs. Johnson looks forward to spending time with her husband and sons.  She also enjoys event planning, floral design and attending sporting events.
