The Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) as it exists today, began with the signing of the National Defense Act of 1916, on June 3, 1916, by President Woodrow Wilson. Military training had been taking place at civilian colleges and universities as early as 1819 but the signing of the National Defense Act brought this training under a single, Federally-controlled entity -- the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) -- for the first time. JROTC was started later in the '60s by President John F. Kennedy.
Here at the Gopher Battalion, our cadets are educated, motivated and downright dedicated.

The Cadet Creed
I am an Army Junior ROTC cadet. I will always conduct myself to bring credit to my family, country, school and the corps of cadets. I am loyal and patriotic. I am the future of the United States Of America. I do not lie, cheat, or steal and will always be accountable for my actions and deeds. I will always practice good citizenship and patriotism. I will work hard to improve my mind and strengthen my body. I will seek the mantle of leadership and stand prepared to uphold the constitution and the American way of life. May God grant me the strength to always live by this creed.Important Links
