It's all about CHOICE in GPISD!

  • header Research indicates students who apply themselves in the arts perform higher academically with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork.

Grand Prairie ISD embraces this concept by allowing for a vast array of visual and performing arts opportunities to be incorporated into the curriculum at all GPISD schools. These areas include Elementary Art and Music, Band, Choir, Ballet Folklorico, Dance, Mariachi, Orchestra, Theatre Arts and Visual Arts.

For students who wish to submerge deeper into a Fine Arts based education, GPISD Schools of Choice makes it possible for those students to focus on the Arts from Pre-K through graduation by enrolling into one of its nationally recognized Fine Arts Academies.

At the elementary level students may apply to Garner Fine Arts AcademyWhitt Fine Arts AcademyBowie Fine Arts Academy or Rayburn Elementary STEAM Academy where the Arts are infused throughout students’ Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math experiences.

At the secondary level, The Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy accommodates grades 6-12 and also serves as the District's only all-advanced academics campus.
