Critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, innovation and citizenship are skills we cultivate.

    What is STEM?

STEM education is an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to learning that provides hands-on and relevant learning experiences for students. STEM learning is more than the acquisition of knowledge. It engages students and equips them with 21st-Century skills; critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, communication and collaboration. STEM education establishes connections between the school, work place, community and global economy. Using the engineering design process as the glue, students connect math, science, reading and writing to embed learning. STEM helps students understand and apply academic concepts with real-world skills to create a foundation for college and career success.

    Why STEM?

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts jobs in STEM fields to increase by 17%, compared to slightly less than 10% growth for non-STEM fields between now and 2018. The Center on Education and Workforce posits there will be 2.4 million new job openings for STEM workers between 2008 and 2018.
