Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Abby Rosenthal
Abby Rosenthal serves as the Social Studies Department Chair at Grand Prairie Collegiate Institute, teaches 6th grade World Cultures, 8th grade U.S. History, and AP World History, and is a co-house leader for Dartmouth.
Although originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs. Rosenthal earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from the University of Dallas. While at UD, she spent a semester in Rome, Italy, which inspired her love of travel. Later, as a teacher, she spent a summer at Exeter College, in Oxford, England, studying British History and Creative Writing on a scholarship. She is passionate about studying and reading anything on British, Russian, and Mongolian history.
In the past seventeen years in the classroom, she has gone from her first love of teaching theatre to her now obsession for all things history. Prior to coming to GPCI, Mrs. Rosenthal taught theatre, speech, and history in private school for 15 years.
Mrs. Rosenthal is a self-professed "history nerd" and loves noting more than drinking a Starbucks latte while reading a historical biography or listening to a history podcast. Some of Mrs. Rosenthal's hobbies include reading, traveling, and seeing movies with her daughter and husband.
