Mrs. Melanie Russell

Melanie Russell was born and raised in Manila, Philippines by a family of lawyers, but her love for science early on prompted her to pursue a different career path, which led her to obtain a degree in science. While studying Public Health at the University of the Philippines, she had numerous professors who inspired her to become an educator. Upon graduating Mrs. Russell then decided to relocate to Houston where she immediately sought and received her teaching certification.

Mrs. Russell began her career as a biology teacher at a magnet high school in Houston ISD, where she served for five years. In the summer of 2015, she was offered a position in Cypress Fairbanks ISD where she began teaching at the middle school level.

In search of better opportunities, Mrs. Russell, her husband, son, and numerous pets moved to Fort Worth. After considering many job offers, she decided to stay in the secondary level and accepted an offer she could not resist - GPFAA.

Currently, she is the lead middle school teacher in the science department. She is looking forward to once again work with the bright and talented young artists at the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy.
