Early Childhood Assessment Team

  • The Early Childhood Assessment Team (ECAT) evaluates preschool-aged children (3-6 years) who are not yet enrolled in school to determine if they qualify for special education services. The team evaluates the areas of speech and language, social-emotional, fine and gross motor, cognitive, and preschool readiness skills. The team may include a Speech-Language Pathologist, Educational Diagnostician, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, and other professionals as needed. The team works together with the parents to assess the strengths and weaknesses of their child. The team determines if the child meets educational criteria as a student with a disability and then makes recommendations for specialized services and supports provided by the school district.

If a parent has concerns regarding their child’s development, contact Lorena Rodriguez, 972-522-3152, to make an appointment with the Early Childhood Assessment Team.
