Grand Prairie ISD is an open enrollment District which means you do not have to live in Grand Prairie to choose GPISD for your child. GPISD offers numerous traditional schools, Schools of Choice and Programs of Choice at all levels.

When can I apply?
When you register to attend the Experience you will be emailed 2 links: a link to the Experience lobby where you can shop for schools and a link to the early application. When you have the link to the early application you can apply starting on January 9 at 9am.
If you do not register for the Experience and get your apply early pass, you will be able to apply when applications open to the public on January 11 at 8am on our website at https://www.gpisd.org/apply.
All applications will close on January 29 at 11:59pm.

May we apply if we live in another school district?
Yes. Grand Prairie ISD is an open enrollment District, you do not have to live in Grand Prairie ISD to choose GPISD for your child.

Do I need to stand in line to submit my child’s application?
No. Grand Prairie ISD’s application process is 100% online. You will need access to the Internet to apply.

What documentation is required for me to apply?
Students not currently enrolled in Grand Prairie ISD: To determine Academic Eligibility, all documents listed below are required for students not currently enrolled in Grand Prairie ISD. In the online application you will have the opportunity to upload the required documents prior to submitting the application. You may submit the online application without uploading the required documents but must provide Grand Prairie ISD with the required documentation no later than January 29, 2021 by 2:00 p.m. to be considered Academically Eligible. Grand Prairie ISD’s Education Center located at 2602 S. Belt Line Rd., Grand Prairie, TX 75052, will be providing support to those needing assistance with uploading the required documents to their online application. All documentation must be uploaded individually.
- Academic Transcript/Academic History
- State Assessment Records (This will not be required for the 21-22 school year. Due to Covid, the test was never administered.)
- Attendance Records (Current Year)
- Discipline Records (Current Year)
Out of District Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered Academically Eligible.
- Pass with an average of 80 in All Core Classes (ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science)
- 95% Attendance rate for the current year
- Passed all areas of the State Assessments (STAAR or EOC) in the last administration
- Acceptable Discipline Record for the current year.
Current Students enrolled in Grand Prairie ISD only need their Student ID to apply. The student’s Student ID can be found by logging into Skyward's Family Access (Parent Portal) then selecting Student Information link. The student's Student ID is the "Other ID" number in the General Information area. No documentation is required to apply.
If you are new to the District and did not upload the required documents, your application is incomplete. Your application cannot be reviewed unless all documents are uploaded into your application. If you are not able to upload them yourself, you can bring copies to the campus or the Susan J. Simpson Education Center located at 2602 S Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. Please bring copies of the required documents. We cannot accept originals for upload. Documents must be received on or before January 29, by 2:00 pm.
How to upload documents:
- Take a picture with your phone and upload the picture
- Scan the document to your computer
- Drop off copies of the documents to the campus or the Susan J. Simpson Education Center. We will upload them to your submitted application.
*NOTE: Once the application has been submitted, you will no longer be able to upload the documents to the application. Copies will have to be dropped off at the campus or the Education Center where we will upload them for you.

What if I do not have a scanner or a way to upload the required documents to the online application?

Do I need to apply if I want my child to attend the school in my GPISD attendance zone?
Students can attend the schools within their Primary Residence Attendance Zone in Grand Prairie ISD. Note: GPISD student’s need to apply if they are wanting to attend a Program of choice at the school they are zoned to attend.

Can I apply online at this time for my child to attend kindergarten in GPISD?
Yes, you will no longer have to wait until late April/early May for your approval/denial. Kindergarten is now on the same timeline as all other grades.

Can I apply for each of the four available online applications?
Each student, depending on his or her next-year grade level, can submit a single application for each of the four available online applications.
