Degrees and Certifications:
Graduated from Hardin-Simmmons University.
Hello! My name is Dilhya Ross and I am excited to join the Austin Environmental Science Academy family as the music teacher. My life- long love of music began when I started piano lessons at the age of 10. This was soon followed by joining band, theatre arts and choir in middle school. Focusing on performance through high school, I was able to attend college on full academic and performance scholarships, eventually graduating with a Bachelor of Music from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX.
I am returning to public school after teaching private voice, piano, brass and acting for six years in Mansfield. I previously taught middle school choir for Garland ISD as well as general music, PK-8 in New York City. In addition to teaching, I have also been lucky enough to perform throughout the country with groups such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Manhattan Children’s Theatre, several performance tours and the Broadway Star Chorus.
I truly believe music is a universal language that anyone can speak, and is an inherent and vital part of children’s intellectual, emotional and social development. Get ready for lots of exciting musical discoveries, creativity, performances and most of all FUN!
